7/4 Distress Call: True Americans Stand Against Foreign and DOMESTIC Tyranny

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed”

This is the oath that every military personnel, elected official and newly minted American citizen takes to pledge loyalty to America. For the past 16 years, our nation has been in a perpetual state of war against extremists as most of our country’s resources, both blood and treasure, have been trained externally to take on boogeyman who are created in order to sustain a profitable “war against terror”. What we have lost sight of in a nearly two decade war that has taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives globally is that there is another component, a deadly virus, that is eating away at the very fabric of America.

I write all the time against our overgrown and cancerous Federal government. Some have written me to condemn me for being “anti-American” and to say that I am being treasonous in a time of war. Let this article be my rejoinder to anyone who is guileless enough to equate patriotism as subservience and robotically salutes anything that is espoused by Federated authorities in Washington DC and Wall Street. Patriotism is having the courage to stand up for truth and justice in the face of group think and having the fortitude to defy despotism at every corner. Even in the military, soldiers are given the option to disobey immoral orders and saying no to the commands of officers if they believe higher up directives to be unethical.

Those who follow what I write know that I love the land of my birth Ethiopia. But lest there be any doubt, America is my home and I love the United States with all my heart. It is America that gave me shelter when the Derg government of Ethiopia turned my family and me into refugees. There is no country in the world like America, a land of many nations where immigrants come from every corner of the globe to start life anew and to pursue happiness and opportunity. The United States has always been a shinning city on a hill; even with all her blemishes, there is no other country I would rather be in besides my home America.

However, loving America does not mean we do not speak up when we see atrocities being committed by a few who have hijacked all levers of power and are spreading destruction in our name throughout the world. When we, the people, become complacent and don’t hold authorities accountable, we give latitude and leeway for tyranny to take root and fester. Injustice ignored in time becomes injustices that destroys all. What our run amok government has been doing for decades, if not longer, has been negating the very aspirations of the founders and inverting the foundation of the Constitution. What was done to people globally in the name of capitalism and wealth creation is now being done to us here in our own country. Our government sees us, the people who are the cornerstone of this nation, as a clear and present threat to their global hustle.

In all honesty, America doesn’t even have sovereignty anymore—we gave our hand to globalists and capital shysters a long time ago (read Nullification 1812). Our Republic has been subverted by the cash of multinational corporations and billionaire gnomes who prosper as the rest of us live paycheck to paycheck. We have gone from 13 colonies to a colony of 50; each state is nothing more than a DBA of Wall Street mercenaries. Our government is the Public Relations arm and mafioso capos of companies like Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Northrup Grumman, Walmart and Starbucks. They keep declaring illegal wars and contravening the Geneva conventions while duplicitous politicians in DC and double-dealing pundits on TV hoodwink us into fighting each other.

Patriotism has become a corporate billboard used by plutocrats (read Left Hand Saluters) to sell us useless trinkets. Loyalty has turned into meaningless utterances echoed by partisan parrots without any sense of honor and duty to country and humanity. The few who do serve, true patriots who sacrifice their lives and livelihood, are treated with token gestures as if sticking yellow ribbons on SUVs bumpers makes up for the mind bending horrors they endured on battlefields fighting ungodly wars. Here is a novel idea, while cooking out today and enjoying the fireworks, take a pause and reflect on the endless sea of veterans who suffer needlessly because our nation cannot muster up the resources to take care of them even though we spend hundreds of billions of dollars manufacturing weapons that only enrich the military-financial complex.

Do you want to know just a wee bit of the strife veterans go through daily? Read the poem below which I wrote only after I talked to endless homeless veterans over the past two years and realized the pains they endure while too many of us go shopping as we step over heroes who call pavements home. Patriotism has lost all meaning and is now just symbolism. We are losing our nation as each day more and more of us are subsumed by hopelessness and economic anxieties. For the first time in the history of America, this generation of children will be worse off than their parents. This is the America our government and globalist jackasses have given us. I am asking you—my fellow Americans—stop letting the powerful shatter us using grievance as both a hammer and a sickle to divide us. Stop letting a few have a monopoly on patriotism. WE are Americans, this blessed land is OUR nation! Act like stakeholders or forever be renters and indentured servants of globalists who have no loyalty to this nation or the greater humanity.

What I am saying next is not hyperbole nor meant to act as some type of outrageous statement for the sake of drawing clicks to this article even if I run the risk of encroaching on Godwin’s law. In the 1930’s, every day Germans kept looking the other way as Nazi goons, empowered by the state, started to oppress Jews and those deemed “undesirable” by Hitler. What started as harassment led to the dissolution of tens of millions of people on the continent of Europe and beyond. Around that same time, Mussolini declared war on Ethiopia and incinerated hundreds of thousands of my forefathers with mustard gas and chemicals. In both cases, negligence by the citizenry gave allowance to horrors none of us can imagine.

On this Fourth of July, let us recommit to standing up for justice and reclaiming our nation from the hands of depraved globalists and political hacks in the media and in our malignant Federal government. Do not confuse patriotism for blind devotion or else we too will end up walking down the path of Germany and Italy. It did not end well for those two nations; the fires of hate and animus that were unleashed by Hitler and Il Duce soon enough became the infernos that took the lives of millions of Germans and Italians. Injustice against a few overlooked has a way of becoming injustice that maims the masses.

The picture you see above is not meant to dishonor America. It is such a fitting symbol actually for it is a picture associated with a story of an Iraq army veteran (Army Vet Arrested) who got arrested for waiving the flag upside down. An upside down flag is a call of distress and a signal for help. I am waving Old Glory upside down on Independence Day as a distress call for our nation. There are enemies within who are eradicating America and sabotaging our nation. The Revolutionary War was fought to free Americans from the clutches of British tyranny. The colonists—who fought and died to gain independence—would have quickly bowed to the dictates of King George if they knew that the very Federal government they created would tax Americans in ways that makes the Stamp Act, Sugar Act and Tea Act look like child’s play. Not content taking nearly half of our paychecks and transferring it to the oligarchy, our Federal government has now decided to wipe away the Bill of Rights and do away with our freedoms of speech and privacy.

I write this to all patriots irrespective of the endless labels and ideologies which have been imposed upon us by cunning men who have perfected the art of divide and conquer. For God’s sake unite and let us save our Republic from the hands of both Republican and Democratic traitors who have sold our nation down the river so they can collect fortunes from the moneyed gentry. We the people need to come together and stop letting politics, racial identities and political ideologies splinter us. We are all Americans, let us act like it or else our children will look back at us in shame and ask how we could have let our nation morph from the shinning city on the hill to the burnt out nation in the abyss. #74DistressCall

Silent Salute
To the soldiers who sacrificed
Did their duty without asking
I express outrage against injustice
Over immoral wars and endless carnage
I am speaking out for you in the process
Veterans in the end understand one thing
Their fellow men were never their enemy
To this day fierce rivals from past conflicts
Embrace after the last bullets have been fired
Soldiers salute and do their duty that is best
The sorrows they go through alone
Trauma induced by bodies and reduced humanity
Only to come back home and encounter Satan’s embrace
Flash backs prompting cold sweats
Bullets and blood droplets
Too much for the mind to process
Those who die in wars are fortunate
It’s the veterans, the survivors
Who carry the burdens of these remembrances
Fallen comrades and innocent children
Indiscriminately swallowed whole by turbulence
Tears mixing with blood stains
Cries drowned out by battle drums
War is humanity’s utmost blemish
Concealed by propaganda and theatrics
Patriotism birthing negligence
Our conscience is subverted into ignorance
As we enjoy disengagement’s bliss
Veterans suffer depression’s kiss
Politicians, profiteers and Hollywood
Glorifying war horrors by bending reality
Obfuscating suffering with special effects and rhetoric
But to the soldier their truth is the opposite
Rat-tat-tat-tat bullets shattering God’s presence
Untold masses disappearing into graves and silence
We wave flags thanking them for service
They shiver alone bearing the cost of compliance
Final judgments by way of triggers and buttons
Only to come back home
Shock and awe replaced by shock trauma
Nightmares that never end
Being continually transported back to mayhem
The battle field redrawn into the mind’s synapses
Piercing quietness with shrieks and terrors
Spouses who grow estranged
Children unable to comprehend
Concern pixelating into absence
Loneliness the only friend that remains
The proud and few become islands
Invisible wounds breaking cognizance
This is why so many end up homeless
Many more embracing suicide’s cuddle
Despair muffles life and blends into darkness
To be met by society’s mind numbing indifference
We step over them daily
Once warriors turned into the indigent
Salutes being returned with diffidence
Yet in this silence I stand for you
May God forever bless you
Where you are broken
May you mend into fullness
Sergeant Black in DC
Vietnam War survivor
Gunny Stevens in Greenville
Korean War survivor
Derrick in Colorado
Iraq War survivor
Frank in Ankeny Iowa
World War II survivor
Countless others who I have met
Had the honor of sharing meals with
May your struggles be fleeting
But your blessings be eternal
In silence I salute you

Once thoroughly entangled in politics and a partisan loyalist, a mugging by way of reality shed political blinders from Teodore's eyes and led him on a journey to fight for universal justice.

Teodrose was born in Ethiopia the same year Emperor Haile Selassie was deposed by the communist Derg junta. The great grandson five generations removed of Atse (emperor) Tewodros Kassa II, the greatest king of Ethiopia, Teodrose is clearly influenced by the history and his connection to Ethiopia. Through his experiences growing up as first generation refugee in America, Teodrose writes poignantly about the universal experiences of joys, pains and a hope for a better tomorrow that binds all of humanity.

Teodrose has written extensively about the intersection of politics, economic policies, identity, and history. He is the author of "Serendipity's Trace" and newly released "Soul to Soil", two works that inspect the ways we are dissected as a people and shows how we can overcome injustice through the inclusive vision of togetherness.
