Ominous Development in DC: America at the Dawn of Martial Law

I know there will be some who will accuse me of being Chicken Little for the alarming nature of this article’s title and dismiss me as the boy who cried wolf one too many times. However, despite the scorns that I am sure will be headed my way like a cold front in February, I yet again ring the bell to warn of the perils ahead and to caution of the menace that is pending around the corner. I am not doing this from the comforts of home disconnected from the situations taking place in our nation’s capital, I present this missive from the belly of the beast.

I drove to Washington, DC this morning to experience what is taking place in our nation’s capital first-hand. I parked my car on 3^rd St NE and walked over to the front of the US Capitol in order to get full view of the developments instead of depending on mainstream ruse. On the surface, everything seemed fine; joggers and dog-walkers alike were walking by the throngs of military personnel and there was not a hint of nervousness in the air at all. However, everyone I talked to was in a state of disbelief; they could not believe what was taking place in front of their eyes.

I walked across the street and actually talked to a couple of reservists who were ringed around the US Capitol as if they were Spartans guarding “the people’s house” from an oncoming Persian invasion. I chatted with a Lieutenant Colonel from Newport News, Virginia for about 20 minutes; when he told me his rank, I chided him for being unlucky enough to be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the rank and file instead of sipping latte with the rest of the generals in their cozy Situation Rooms.

I know what you are thinking to yourself, what I am describing is nothing akin to a calamity that is about to take place in DC. In fact, it sounds like the District of Columbia is in safe hands and that it is best we have upwards of 20,000 National Guard members, M4s and rounds laced around their torsos, watching guard and keeping us safe from the “insurrectionist mobs”. I understand this line of thinking; we live in scary times and there are many who are willing to cede liberties to be guaranteed security provided by Big Government.

Alas, as Ben Franklin famously noted, “those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Not only do people who trade their rights for the sake of sanctuary deserve the loss of both, they ultimately reap despotism for the gutlessness they sowed. This will jar many as it seems a bit out of bounds to call people who run to authority for fear of uncertainty cowards but sometimes spades must be called spades. America is about to be turned into East Germany because too many are perfectly fine with a police state until they realize the cost that comes with our cities and towns being turned into militarized zones.

It pains me to write this, I arrived in America in 1983 escaping the horrors of a Marxist Derg junta in Ethiopia that ended up committing a genocide against 500,000 men, women and children. Mengistu Hailemariam deposed Emperor Haile Selassie in 1974—the year I was born—under the guise of equality for all only to unleash hell upon Ethiopia. My parents fled in sheer terror and escaped to America so that my siblings and I could seize boundless opportunities instead of realizing endless anxieties. Where my native land Ethiopia turned me into a refugee, America—the shinning city on a hill—gave us refuge and allowed me to attain my fullest potential.

Full circle! The tyranny that my parents evaded has now invaded my new home America. Just like Ethiopians had no idea what was in store for them when they welcomed a tin pot dictator the year I was born, Americans—who are about to celebrate the inauguration of Joseph Biden—cannot even begin to conceive of what the public serpent from Scranton has in the works. After four years of Trump’s flouting conventions and spitting on human decency, Biden will enter the White House promising to restore order only to unleash a plan that will demolish our civil rights and eradicate our freedoms.

It will all start on January 20^th, the day Biden is set to be sworn into office. The power kegs have all been arranged, all that is needed now is a spark to set off an inferno that will usher in a new age of Martial Law in America. Before you press ALT + Tab in a rush to brush off the rest of this article, give me chance to lay out my reasoning. You see, everything in place for a clash between rival camps. It will become very evident why George Soros spent over $200,000,000 propping up Black Lives Matter and why Trump was selected by “the invisible hands” to be our 45th president.

The game is afoot and the pieces are arranged perfectly. On one side will be Biden’s supporters, mostly highly educated “white” people who are blinded by the liberal orthodoxy and the bourgeois “blacks” who have a most unhealthy fixation on Democrats. On another side will be Trump’s supporters and the Proud Boys who will show up looking to be a public nuisance. On yet another side will be BLM and ANTIFA crowds who are itching to take on Trump loyalists.

There to supposedly “keep the peace” will be 20,000 National Guard reservists as well as tens of thousands of police from around the DMV. In theory, an overwhelming show of force should keep potential warring factions apart. Theory has a way of being blown out of the water by the realities on the ground. What people are discounting is that the tens of thousands of reservists and police officers are a reflection of society at large; within their ranks are Biden supporters, Trump loyalists, BLM proponents and ANTIFA disciples.

What do you think will happen if violence breaks out and reservists and police have to choose sides? The potential exists for factions within the military and the police to take sides which could quickly escalate to a guerilla battle in our nation’s capital. It sounds improbable but so did the Boston Massacre before it happened and so did the bloodshed that took place at Kent State on May 4^th, 1970. Once bullets start to fly and the survival modes kick in, there is no way of predicting what happens next.

For the record, I pray that next Wednesday is peaceful and that the day ends uneventfully. But my spirits tell me otherwise; what happened on January 6^th was but a preview of the carnage that is about to be unleashed on January 20^th. When mayhem is loosened and blood starts to flow in our nation’s capital, just know that none of this happened in a vacuum, these things were planned a long time ago. Just know though there is a reason why the founders of America, flawed as they were, did not want to use the military as a police force. Soldiers are not trained to keep the peace, they are drilled to kill enemies and to eliminate threats upon contact.

I know what I am presenting sounds hyperbolic and the stuff of science fiction, many can’t fathom this level of havoc happening right in Washington DC. There is a reason for this of course, most are too close to the trees to see the wider picture of the forest. For more than four years, politicians, pundits and opinion leaders on all sides have been inciting their base and antagonizing “the other side”. Layered on top of this is nearly a year’s worth of Covid-19 exhaustion and exasperation wrought by lockdowns and what we get is a Molotov cocktail waiting to be lit.

If you are planning to travel to Washington DC on January 20^th, please change your mind or else risk becoming part of next week’s body count. For the police and military personnel reading this article, I just remind you that your oath to preserve chain of command is superseded by the oath you swore to God. A time will come in short order where you will have to choose between bowing before authority or serving our common humanity, for the sake of all of us—including your friends and family—I pray that you choose the latter and not the former. This article, and the poem at the bottom titled Silent Salute that I wrote when I was homeless living next to fellow homeless veterans, is one that I wrote in honor of your service and boundless sacrifices.

Let me wrap this up with a reminder of the Wildcat Strike USA 2021 effort that I am organizing along with dozens of activists that span the identity and ideological gamut. We ask you to take part in a national strike next Wednesday, January 20^th, precisely to counter the strife that is about to take place in Washington DC. We might be powerless to stop the bedlam that might break out in front of the US Capitol and the White House but we can shift the paradigm by unifying as workers instead of being pitted against each other based on race, gender, religion and the endless identities and ideologies that have ghettoized humanity.
